Clients are advised to first review weekly performance of the S&P 500 and its sector components.
Next, review the trailing 21-day (monthly) performance of the ETF universe. Of the universe of approximately 900 ETFs, however, only 123 ETFs have been selected for RWP review. The criteria for selection is: 1) sufficient transaction volume (generally > 100,000), and 2) general investor interest while avoiding leveraged and other exotic ETFs.
One of the investment goals for market participants is to identify those sectors which are likely to outperform in the future. While it’s possible to know beforehand what ETFs will outperform in the future ( save for luck), a review of the recent movement of ETFs over the past three (3) months may provide some guidance.
