News & Media
R.W. Pressprich & Co. recently signed a lease for 22,000 square feet at 452 Fifth Avenue at 40th Street adjacent to Bryant Park. The new lease represents a 50% increase in space and Pressprich expects to move into the new space in late 2012.
Despite the securities markets dislocations in 2011, Pressprich extended the firm’s 22 year record of carefully managed growth and consistent profitability while increasing its equity capital and maintaining a conservative balance sheet. As the successor company to the original Pressprich founded in 1909, this 2011 business expansion during volatile market conditions continues to add to the rich 102 year history of this company.
During 2011 Mr. Kevin Browne, formerly head of Morgan Stanley’s and Bank of America’s clearing operations, joined Pressprich’s senior management team as Chief Administrative Officer for Equities. Pressprich also expanded its agency market presence by underwriting two debt offerings for OPIC, the US government’s development finance institution. The Euro MBS effort was expanded as a natural adjunct to the firm’s domestic MBS effort and personnel were added to expand European institutional client coverage. The firm’s Aviation Finance Group, based in Minneapolis under the direction of Mr. Jeff Golbus, continued its expansion and with Mr. Steven Welo, Managing Director, recently announced the completion of two Aircraft Trust Consent Solicitations.
Furthermore, to enhance Pressprich’s capital structure sales/research approach, additional personnel joined Pressprich to expand the firm’s presence in Distressed Bank Loan sales and trading.
The significant increase in space reflects management’s view that the volatility and downsizing in the financial sector represents an opportunity to expand its securities businesses. Mr. Edward J. Rappa, Chief Executive Officer, notes “we value the culture we have created over the last 22 years and believe that our conservative management approach, 22 years of proven profitability and a positive entrepreneurial work environment are key to our future expansion efforts. Our focus will continue to serve the needs of our customers and employees. We are looking forward to 2012 and the move to our new headquarters.”
