R.W. Pressprich & Co. is involved in many areas of aviation finance. We are experts in aviation with a particular strength in understanding how aviation structures relate to financial investors.

Steve Welo

Steve is focused on developing relationships, business development and creating solutions for our issuing and investing clients. Steve has a network of aircraft lessors, airlines, manufacturers and key institutional investors. Through these relationships, Pressprich has advised, structured and placed secured and unsecured debt, aircraft trading and equity transactions. Pressprich also performs advisory and restructuring services. Prior to joining Pressprich in 2010, Steve began his aviation focus during a 13-year career at Piper Jaffray as an institutional salesperson and later joining the investment banking division. Steve received a B.A. Finance from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He also holds the CFA designation from the CFA Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Clay Smith, CFA

Clay joined RWP in 2009 as a Senior Analyst with responsibilities in special situation bank loans and aviation research. Prior, Clay spent 11 years in senior research roles at AIG, American Express, and most recently, at Deephaven Capital Management. As an institutional investor, Clay managed a large portfolio of Aircraft ABS securities as well as being actively involved in several corporate restructurings. Clay was also involved in the re-packaging of structured aircraft transactions. Clay holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Irvine, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Jeff Golbus, CFA

Prior to joining RWP in 2009, Jeff had spent the majority of his career as an institutional investor. As a Portfolio Manager of Distressed Credit at Deephaven Capital Management, Jeff was a large EETC/ETC investor and was actively involved in the United Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Delta bankruptcies. Previously, he actively handled workout situations at Nationwide Insurance from 2001 to 2005. Jeff received a B.A. from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

John Kuny, CFA

Mr. Kuny joined R.W. Pressprich & Co. in August of 2017 as an aviation specialist. Prior to joining RWP, he spent 15+ years trading EETC, ETC, Aircraft ABS, Private Loans and Underwriting at Stifel Nicolaus and Piper Jaffray. Most recently, as a head trader at Stifel, he worked on the Institutional Fixed Income platform with over 70 professionals and developed relationships on the buy side with Money Managers, Insurance Companies, Endowments and Hedge Funds.

Mr. Kuny has a B.A. in Economics from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN and holds Series 63, 55, 7, 52 & 24 licenses.
